Righteous Among The Nations

Righteous Among The Nations                                                                                                                                                                                                            Anciaux, Emile & Josephine                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Charles and Anna Klein, were two Jewish children of three years and twenty months respectively.

They were originally from Antwerp, and were separated from their parents to be hidden and saved.

In the fall of 1942, Andrée Geulen (Righteous Among the Nations), a teacher who helped Jewish children find shelter (she belonged to the Jewish Defense Committee),

she gave them to the Anciaux family, in Brussels.

Emile and Josephine Anciaux and their two children, Francis and Mimi, lovingly cared for Charles and Anna for nearly two years.

They hid them until the end of the occupation, in September 1944.

The parents of both children were deported to Auschwitz, where they were murdered (their father on October 31, 1942 and their mother on January 15, 1944).

After the war, the surviving uncles searched for the children of the Anciaux house.

They were taken to a Jewish orphanage in Lasne, where the Anciaux family frequently visited and spent time with them.
